Quick Weekend In Northern Michigan

We made a quick one night trip to Leland this weekend to spend some time with some of our good friends. Brandon (the best man in our wedding!) and Cassie got engaged recently and we went up to their house to talk wedding planning and look at a few venues.

Sipping coffee in their living room and being able to take in this view is one of my favorite things.

Cassie and I woke up early(ish) and made a delicious breakfast before taking on the day!

We were able to flank our venue visits with trips to two breweries. We were finally able to visit Brew, a place I've been wanting to visit a while and we finished off the trip with a stop at my favorite brewery, Hop Lot.

We scored an igloo and were able to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather without freezing our buns off!

I was honored when they asked me to take a few engagement photos when we left Hop Lot! Aren't they a gorgeous couple?

On our way home from Hop Lot we stopped by a possible location for them to have their ceremony. It's covered in snow now, but I bet this spot will be beautiful in the fall!

I wish the trip had been longer, but I can't wait to go visit them again as the weather gets warmer!

Just a few shots from my work trip to Orlando, FL this past week! It was really nice to be able to get out of the Michigan weather and enjoy some warmer temps.

This is my second year making this trip for work! You can see pics from last year here.

Exterior Inspiration | Part 1

This is part 1 of a 2 part series. You can view part 2 here.

We'll have been in our house for a whole year later this month, a fact that is still hard for me to wrap my head around.

With spring coming quickly my mind has been racing about all the updates I want to do to our backyard. Eventually, we'll get a new fence, but that's several years down the road so I'm working on some more decor and landscaping related projects.

Up first: stain the deck. It was brand new when we purchased the house, but the previous owners never finished it with a stain. I want to add some string lights, update our patio set and get a lot of landscaping squared away. We also want to get our garden planned out and tilled up. I'll be sharing more on our garden next month as it gets warmer.

These are some of the pins I've been pulling inspo from. I scored some great patio chairs on Facebook Marketplace last year, so I'm putting those in the center and decorating out from there. We also have a hammock that we received as a wedding gift that I can't wait to set up. Mostly, I just want strings of lights everywhere.

Here's my to do list for the back exterior of our home:
-Paint siding
-String lights DIY
-Paint patio chairs
-Overhaul landscaping
-Plant garden
-Stain deck
-Trellis DIY

We already have the stain for the deck, so I'll probably start on that project as soon as it's warm enough. Spring is right around the corner, so I need to get workin'!
