Magnetic Fake Succulent Decor

I have a confession: I can't keep any plant alive in my house. My longest running try was a succulent Beard and I bought when were dating, and I'm 98% sure that just recently it kicked the bucket. I'm still holding out hope, but deep down inside I know that all the instagram feeds full of pretty homes with pretty plants are only in the cards for me if their in my dreams. I won't lie, I was kinda down about it until I realized one thing... THEY MAKE FAKE PLANTS THAT LOOK PRETTY DARN REAL! With my love for pretty green things renewed, I have put together several DIY's involving fake plants. This one is my favorite because it's the cheapest.

You will need:
-Small Magnetic Planter (I saved this from the last plant I killed)
-Fake Succulent (I got mine at the dollar store!)
-Butter Knife (optional)

Start by cutting the succulent out of it's planter with the knife. This was really simple. I just went around the edge and it pulled free.

The second step is REALLY hard (not). Just pop the succulent into the planter. There you go. You're done.

Your third step is to stick it on your fridge (or anywhere else that it will stay put!) and admire your lazy DIY. ;)

I put together this simple step-by-step diagram for you guys, so go ahead and share it with all the other lazy succulent and DIY loving people you know! I would love to see your own variations of the simple project, so if you make one show us on social media with #TNEmakes!

Rockford Brewing Company

It's no secret Beard and I love supporting Michigan's beer economy and we're blessed to have friends that feel the same way! A couple weeks ago a group of us went out to Rockford to visit their local brewery, and just like the first time I went there, I loved it. Not only is Rockford itself lovely, the brewery is simple and easy going. Since Beard and I had a Groupon (pick yourself up one!), we were able to sample 8 different pours and all of them were delicious.

Right across the street from the brewery is Peppler Park, so we walked over and checked out the dam. I want to head back and walk the trails that they have there, too! I also heard some fishing talk going on between Beard and Kyle, so I'm sure they'll get out there sometime soon.

5 Things

Back at it again with another 5 Things I Love!

1. Love this article about how Key & Peele keep their skits hilarious even after 5 seasons.
2. I would love to switch to only streaming, but then we would say bye to Fox Sports Detroit! :(
3. Asana nails it with this simple layout of how meetings get derailed.
4. Speaking of Asana, check out their tips for staying motivated during the summer.
5. I'm loving this song + video.

Pictured Rocks

Usually over the 4th of July weekend Beard is up north on a guys trip and I'm cramming tones of projects in back home, but this year we mixed it up an spent it together *gasp*. We went up to the UP with Frank, Kathy and Orion to spend some quality time relaxing. Our "big thing" on the trip was visiting Pictured Rocks. After our first failed attempt due to some bad weather, we were able to rent a pontoon and head out on the open water.

We spent the whole day out on Lake Superior on our pontoon enjoying the water and making a couple stops along the shoreline.

Have you ever been to Pictured Rocks? If not, it's definitely something you should check out!

National Wildlife Refuge

This is part two in a seven part series of Beard and I's trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the 4th of July holiday. You can read the other six installments here: 1|3|4|5|6|7
Last year, Beard went hunting on the wildlife refuge with his grandpa and had a blast. Since we were driving by we decided to swing through.

Beard and I took turns with the camera while we were out there and ended up getting some gorgeous shots!

Beards Brewery

This is part one in a seven part series of Beard and I's trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the 4th of July holiday. You can read the other six installments here: 2|3|4|5|6|7
Beard and I stopped by Beards Brewery on our way up north for the 4th of July this year. Since we left a couple days before the rest of our vacation buddies, it gave us time to visit several different places on the way up instead of driving straight through.

Our friends, Mike and Jess, have suggested Beards to us before (as well as many others!), so we were excited to visit. It didn't disappoint - not only was the beer delicious, the atmosphere was really cool. My favorite part? Their flight boards. They're in the shape of a beard! How cool?! Beard and I said we had to go back, even if it was just to stick a White Flame sticker on the air duct - they didn't have one, and it would be a nice addition to their collection. ;)
Have any of you ever been to Beards Brewery? I would love to know your thoughts!
