Thanksgiving Place Cards

Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday. Not only is it a wonderful time with friends and family - it's the perfect "check" to be grateful and thankful for all the things you have.

I don't host Thanksgiving dinner at my house, since it's Beard's holiday - but that doesn't mean I was going to leave you all hanging! This is how I would have styled my table IF I was hosting this year! I love the less traditional colors that are pulled in the with napkins.

You will need:
Card Stock
Printer
Scissors
Thanksgiving 2015 Place Cards PDF*
Spray Paint (optional)

I used the spray paint to lightly coat my pine cone. I wanted the subtle metalic vibe to go along with the napkins. Then just cut out the place cards and write the names of your guests!

I stuck with a neutral place card to go along with my floral theme. I hope you love them as much as I do! If you use these make sure to show me on social media using the hashtag #TNEmakes.

M

Thanksgiving Mason Jar Labels

I don't what what it is, but I love Mason Jars. I use them for everything! So it makes sense that I would make cute labels for Thanksgiving.

You will need:
Mason Jar (with lid!)
Card Stock
Scissors

All you need to do is print, cut and place the labels onto some Mason Jars and viola! You're done! I love these labels so much, and I can't wait to use them in my own home.

How would you guys use these cute labels? I just can't get enough of them!

#cottonstakeontahquamenon | Short's Brewing Company

On our way home from the UP  this past weekend we stopped at Short's Brewing Company in Bellaire, MI. Beard and I have been here a handful of times (we try to get up there a couple times a year) and they've always expanded their space by the time we can make our next visit.

You can see us after we got engaged here, in 2012. It was only two "rooms" at the time. It's kind of fun to see this brewery grow year after year.

Not only have they expanded the actually brewery, they've purchased several more storefronts next store and one of them is full of all their merchandise.

We really loved their set up. Beard got an insulated coffee travel mug and it's incredible. I've been using it more that him. :)

We can't wait till our next visit! I'm excited to see what they'll have changed by then.

#cottonstakeontahquamenon | Tahquamenon Falls Brewery

For dinner after a long day of being out in the snow looking at waterfalls, we decided to hit up Tahquamenon Falls Brewery. This was also the night that Michigan State won on a punt fumble... the bar was about 50/50 on the teams, so there was a lot of *ahem* noise at the end of the game.

It's pretty cool that there's a brewery right in the parking lot of the upper falls. It's a nice place to stop and get some good food before heading out to see more sites!

#cottonstakeontahquamenon | Beards Brewery

On the way up to the UP with Joe and Heidi, we decided to make a pit stop and a fancy 'lil place called Beards Brewery. Beard and I visited Beard's earlier this year when we were on our way up to the UP for the 4th of July.

It was a nice chance for us to stretch out legs and walk around, even though it was raining outside. Once again, we love the atmosphere and the good beer. We forgot to bring a White Flame sticker like we vowed last time, so we'll be back!

#cottonstakeontahquamenon

This past weekend the Grand Rapids Cotton crew went up to Tahquamenon Falls in the Upper Peninsula. It was an early birthday trip for Beard, as well as a chance to see the changing colors before all the leaves are down on the ground!

Our first stop once we arrived was the Upper Falls.

Then we hopped in the car and went to the Fish House. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I ended up getting WAS THE BEST FISH I'VE EVER HAD. Seriously, it was delicious. We had to wait outside because the place was full when we arrived, but it was worth the wait. We also happened to arrive on the last day of the season. They catch all their fish fresh every morning and once the season is over, they close their doors until the next year.

After lunch, we headed to Whitefish Point. We didn't stay too long because wanted to head over to the lower falls before it started getting dark.

Finally we arrived at the lower falls. Since it was so late in the year, we weren't able to take a boat across and explore, but we did hike around on the path until it turns into a rough trail. You can hike back and fourth between the falls, but it's a 8 mile round trip and it was cold and slippery. Plus, we had stopped at the upper falls earlier in the day, so we ditched the trail and decided to head back to the truck. By the time we got back, it was snowing pretty heavy.

On our way back to get dinner, we stopped at the Tahquamenon Natural Area and hiked around a little. The snow made everything gorgeous as the sun was setting.

The next day on our way home, we stopped to "climb the tower for a dollar"... It ended up being way cooler than we thought and I got an awesome panoramic photo of the bridge and the lake.

This is the second time Beard and I have been up to the UP this year, and I hope we make it a annual trip. There's just something about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that's magical.

Hello, Philly!

Recently, I had the chance to travel to Philadelphia for my full time job. It was a quick and fun trip. I've never been to Philadelphia before, so it was nice to check that off my "places I've been" list.

I was pretty psyched that my two co-workers were up for going to a local brewery while we were in town. If you followed my blog for any amount of time you know Beard and I enjoy hitting up new breweries, so this will be cool to add to our photo album.

My flight home was overbooked, so I ended up getting a direct flight that left a couple hours earlier and got me in a few hours earlier than I was planning! #winwin

All in all, a fun trip - and just another reason I love what I do.
